Leanne Floyd gifted a copy of her novel, 'Over the Borderline' for a review. She is such a kind soul and it is obvious that she cares about her readers and everyone she interacts with. When I finally received this signed, hardcover in the mail, I couldn't wait to read it! And if I really wanted to, I could have finished it in one day. I'm glad I didn't and extended it to two days because I absolutely adored every part of this novel.

Here is a quick synopsis from Goodreads:

"Brooke Douger has a knack for helping others with their broken lives, which explains her interest in criminal psychology and profiling. She convinces her childhood friend, Jacob, to move to Tampa after his latest fiasco, where he finds a job at a legal firm, which is defending Zach Barton, a rich, young entrepreneur who is accused of murdering his ex-girlfriend. When Brooke has to provide expert testimony in Barton’s trial, Jacob and Brooke end up on opposite sides of the courtroom. As Brooke prepares to testify, she discovers a pattern of violent, impulsive behavior in Barton’s past, eerily similar to those of the Surfside Killer, the case she has been asked to help profile for the FBI. Brooke is swirling in dangerous waters with the killer lurking on the fringe of her life. Who will be his next victim? Will Brooke’s knack for profiling be enough to keep her safe?"

As you can probably guess, this made for an extremely addictive and intriguing read. I read a little bit for the first day and had to stop because well, wife duties were calling me, and the next day, I finished it in a couple of hours because I truly did not want to stop reading this brilliant work of art.

The close friendship between Jacob and Brooke made my heart flutter due to the similarities of my old best friend and I; it tugged heart strings and made me extremely happy. I loved both point of views from each character especially the killer's point of view. There were so blunt and got to the point right away when his hands wrapped around each victims throat. The main significance of this killer was the seashells he left as gifts to his unfortunate victims.

Leanne Floyd was able to hold my attention throughout this entire book and that is ultimately why I finished it in such a short period of time. She described everything so wonderfully- you learned things without actually knowing that you're being fed great information because it was so good. The courtroom scenes were on point. I felt as if I was watching everyone talk and object-- a movie right before my eyes, if you may. I'm not sure if it's because I have been in multiple court rooms myself when I was in foster care which gives me an advantage of what a real court room looks like or maybe, however, Leanne Floyd was able to paint that picture with words.

The read allowed me to predict who the killer was yet at the same time, make me second guess myself. Because there were subtle hints throughout which indicated it could be numerous people. And when the ending came to a close, I was shocked and mad because now, I have to wait for the sequel!

This is a must-read and I rated it 5/5 stars on Goodreads as well as my Instagram.
